Daptone Gold

Wenn ich bei der Funk Explosion aktuelle Soul und Funk Platten spiele, dann sind diese häufig vom Daptone Records Label. Das derzeit weltbeste Soul-Label hat nun eine erste Werkschau veröffentlicht: Daptone Gold. Für Einsteiger ist dies eine hervorragende Einführung in die Klangwelt dieses Labels. In einem 2-Familien-Haus in Brooklyn haben die Daptone-Gründer Gabriel Roth (aka Bosco Mann) und Neil Sugarman das Hauptquartier ihres Labels eingerichtet. Das Studio ist das Herzstück der Daptone Zentrale. Die liebevoll restaurierte alte analoge Aufnahmetechnik ist eine wichtige Voraussetzung für den unvergleichlichen warmen Sound der Daptone - Platten. Ein weiterer wichtiger Grund für die Qualität der Daptone Platten ist die Hausband "Dap-Kings", deren Musiker in den verschiedensten Band-Projekten zusammen arbeiten.
Die Label-Compilation "Daptone Gold" kombiniert die Lieblings-Songs der Label-Macher mit raren und bisher unveröffentlichten Stücken. Die Hauptattraktion des Labels sind "Sharon Jones & The Dap-Kings", von denen selbstverständlich mehrere Songs auf der Doppel-LP (oder CD) drauf sind.
